In the interest of full disclosure, I must confess that the carnival environment made me uncomfortable in some undefined way. Also, I didn't like Gypsy's name at all. now to get to the good part. The writing is brilliantly executed. I don't know any other writer who could have portrayed the way Mick experienced touch both physically and emotionally. I am totally enjoying these books.I have read 3of them and will start the 4th.I hope the author writes more in this genre as she has kept me really absorbed.I know I will go to find more books of hers but they can't be as good as this series.
Michael Tanner lost his parents in a fire when he was 5. What happened after changed his life forever. Now murder has come to his carnival family. Chief Gypsy Bell is determined to make sure her grandfather's carnival remains open now with this murder she seeks Mick's help. These two have to solve this case soon but also can they each be what the other needs in their life.
I loved the mystery, but what totally grabbed me is the engaging characters. This is a fabulous romance surrounded by an unusual setting. I loved the dialogue. There was insight into the Carnie world that fascinated me. If you like a mystery that is a psychological thriller and an awesome romance read this book. Heck read the series.
Paranormal is generally not my favorite genre but this series is the exception. I read Cold Touch and Cold Sight when they came out and loved them. I knew there needed to be more books in the series. It has been a long wait and I'm glad it's over. Micks story is great and a good addition to the series. I hope the author continues this series. I will definitely buy them.
If you're a fan of Kay Hooper or Dale Mayer you're going to love Leslie Kelly. I love paranormal stories but care little for vampires or shape shifters and Ms. Kelly delivers! Read the first one based on an recommendation and plowed my way through all three in this series. Highly recommended for lovers of the genre by a voracious reader in foggy San Francisco.
I enjoyed this story and it kept me turning pages. I'll look for the others in the series - this was my first one, which may have been a tiny bit of a mistake as I never saw the reason to bring in the other agents and thought they were more of a distraction that a positive addition to the story.
I admit being a bit of a stickler for language usage, and the constant use of "sunk" instead of "sank" bothered me - but I didn't find many other problems other than the occasional typo, which does bump me out of the story but is certainly understandable.
This is the third book in a series by Leslie A. Kelly. It can be read as a stand alone, but some of the characters are explained more if you have read the first two books. Mick Tanner is the main player of this story. He is approached by a childhood "frenemy" when a murder happens at a carnival where he was raised. He has special abilities that Gypsy, the "frenemy", now local cop, is hoping will help them to solve the case. I liked the story and all the intrigue that went with it. For some reason, though, I had a harder time believing Mick's abilities, so I didn't really connect with his character. I did enjoy the story and look forward to the next book in the series.
