This is the third book I read written by Ms Mason. I find plots really similar so by the time I got to this book I’m skipping pages.... Again H and h’s bickering from cover to cover is annoying and irritating by the time you get to 40%...I had to stop and comeback to continue ..... Perhaps if the book didn’t drag on and on with little bit of here and there “stuff” that add no value to the story the whole book wouldn’t feel tedious by the time you get to 40% either. And (I can’t believe I’m writing this) there is just too much sex scenes or sexual innuendos etc etc. I enjoy reading such things (and the author does well too) but repeat same description after 15-20 times in a one book looses’ the excitement.... I kept on turning pages until I had substance to read. It was a big effort to finish the book after ~70%. And both H and h kept on bringing up their first dead husband and dead wife they lost up to the last chapter that you really want to scream at them to leave the dead behind! They just couldn’t let go. It was annoying and quite frankly pathetic. Storm, the heroine, was sickly prejudicial against “savages” that it was nauseating. This continues until about 50% or more. And the hero supposedly saw something in her? And they talk and think like modern people. Disappointing.

A Promise of Thunder edition by Connie Mason Romance eBooks Reviews

This book was exciting. Thunder is a Lokata half breed gunslinger. He has a vision and is sent to his destiny Storm in Oklahoma. They are pioneers. I really liked the tension between them. They love scenes were scorching hot. I really enjoyed this book and I will look for more by the author. This is a great historical romance.
This book is really a 3.5 for me. The introduction of the Native American issues makes me want to investigate historical facts about how half-breeds were treated in the 1890's. I admire Storm and her determination to be true to herself and to own her own soul. Mason treats that story line with as much respect as Grady' s sense of manly honor. I recommend this book.
I couldn't get past Grady(which i tnought was an old mans name) calling Storm, "lady"repeatedly, it wasn't an endearment i could believe coming out of his mouth. I also thought Storm bringing up her dead husband in the marriage bed was weird also, thinking it yeah, but constantly bringing it up for discussion, no. Not my favorite by this author.
I loved this book and the fact that it was free made it even better. Sometimes free doesn't necessarily mean good, however this book was great. The story was well written and it wasn't rushed. I like when the story and the characters are developed slowly so you can enjoy the book more. I'm looking forward to reading something again by this author she knows how to tell a story. I loved it and recommend it to everyone
This Author is so incredible, it takes a lot of talent to make you think
of the characters after you read her stories they stay with you never to forget!
A Promise of thunder was an interesting read with two great characters
Thunder & Storm & the madness to claim their land during Americas gold rush.
Lots of great sex!!! HUBBA-HUBBA- I loved this story!!! Thanks Miss Connie )
A great follow up to Beyond the Horizon. Grady's wife and unborn child were killed by 3 white men. He left the white world to live with the people, and turned into a Renegade for revenge against the whites. He is known as Thunder among the people. Grandfather has told him it is time for him to rejoin the white world. His destiny is not with the people. While trying to find his way for him and his 6 year old son a stranger challenges him and a stray bullet from the strangers gun kills Storm's husband. They end up getting married as Storm needs a place to live and Grady needs a mother for his son Tim. The two must find a way to forget their young loves and learn to trust in their new adult love. Grady must also find a way to forget his hatred of the whites and leave his violent life behind. Connie Mason almost always has lots of sex in her books, so if you do not like that this book is not for you.
Having received an Android tablet for a gift, I am new to the world of books on . Connie Mason is a romance writer I am familiar with and usually love her books. The brief description of the story caught my interest, I love anything historical (western, cowboy, pioneer)so I purchased it. Soon I was reading it and found out that the book description was a bit off.

Grady (known as Thunder) is trying to heal his heart and soul from the tragic loss of his wife. Embracing the Indian side of his heritage after her death, he goes to live with the people, turning renegade for a few years and is told in a vision that he will only be healed in the bosom of a storm. Some how he ends up in Oklahoma a few days prior to the land rush. His past catches up with him on the street and an innocent bystander is killed. Then he meets the new widow, the wife of the bystander, Storm Kennedy. As was the plan, Storm goes ahead and participates in the land rush that her and her now deceased husband had come to Oklahoma for. Grady feels protective of the women named Storm, partly because the bullet that killed her husband was meant for him and partly because he wonders if she is the Storm that the vision spoke of. He knows the land well and ends up joining in the land rush as well. No spoiler, they end up staking claims next to each other.

Through a set of circumstances, they end up marrying each other. Grady needs a mother for his son, Storm needs a home to save her claim. The rest of their story deals with their struggles against life, against each other, and against people. They learn that they are stronger than they ever thought possible, learn that they can fall in love again, can be hurt again.

With out giving away too much of the details...don't want to create a spoiler for the reader...the whole conflict with the sister-in-law that has been caring for Grady's young son and Storm was just a bit too much and too silly for me. As was the stubbornness of Storm and Grady and the roads they choose to follow instead of talking to each other. The forming of romance between the main characters was a little rough and sometimes harsh for my taste, but it did fit in with the characters.

It was a good read, one that went quickly, and while it was not one of Mason's best works I am glad that I purchased it.
